Common questions

Where are my entries stored?

On your device, and nowhere else. There is no cloud copy and no sync. See the privacy policy for the detail.

I got a new phone. How do I bring my entries across?

On the old phone: Profile → Export backup, and save the file somewhere you can reach — Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or email it to yourself. On the new phone: install Hanko, then Profile → Restore from backup and pick that file.

Signing in does not move your entries. An account only carries your identity, not your writing. If you sign in on a new phone without restoring a backup, you will see an empty app — that is expected, not a bug.

I lost my phone and never exported a backup. Can you recover my entries?

No, and we want to be straight with you about why: your entries were only ever on that device. There is no copy on a server for us to send you. This is the cost of the app not being able to read what you write.

Do I need an account?

No. Hanko works completely without one. An account currently just reserves your identity for features we may add later.

How do I delete my account?

Email privacy@hankoaffirmations.app from the address you signed up with and we will delete it. Your entries are unaffected either way, since they live on your device.

Will I be charged when the trial ends?

No. The 14-day trial does not take a payment method, so it cannot roll into a paid plan on its own. When it ends, the app asks — nothing happens unless you say yes.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Through the store you bought it from — Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or Play Store → Payments and subscriptions on Android.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds go through Apple or Google rather than us: reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google Play's order history. If something in the app went wrong, tell us too so we can fix it.

I missed a few days. Did I lose my streak?

There is no streak to lose. The practice rings only ever move forward — miss a week and they wait where you left them.

Reporting a bug

Tell us what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead, plus your device and OS version. If you can reproduce it, the exact steps help enormously.

Accessibility

If something in Hanko is hard to use with VoiceOver, TalkBack, larger text sizes, or reduced motion, we want to hear about it — that is a bug like any other.
