Hanko
Terms of Use
Last updated 9 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Halil Akgündüz, an individual developer based in Türkiye. By using Hanko you accept them.
The licence you get
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Hanko on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. You may not resell it, rent it out, reverse-engineer it, or remove its notices.
Your content is yours
You keep every right in what you write. We claim no licence over your entries — and since they never leave your device, we could not exercise one if we wanted to.
Accounts
An account is optional; the app works fully without one. If you create one, keep your credentials to yourself — you are responsible for activity under your account. You may ask us to delete your account at any time by writing to hello@hankoaffirmations.app. Deleting your account does not delete your entries, because your entries are on your device, not in the account.
The free trial
Hanko starts with a 14-day free trial that does not ask for a payment method. Because we never take your payment details up front, the trial cannot convert into a paid subscription by itself. When it ends, the app asks whether you want to subscribe, and nothing is charged unless you choose to.
Subscriptions and billing
Hanko offers a monthly plan, an annual plan, and a one-time lifetime purchase. Current prices are shown on the pricing section and confirmed by the store before you buy.
- Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- You are charged through your App Store or Google Play account, and renewal is billed within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- Cancel any time in your store account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are already in.
- The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment covering the current app and its updates for as long as we operate it. It is not a promise that the app will exist forever.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us.
Acceptable use
Do not use Hanko to break the law, and do not interfere with the app or the services it depends on.
Hanko is not health care
Hanko is a journalling tool. It is not therapy, not medical advice, and not a crisis service. If you are struggling, please talk to a qualified professional or a local crisis line.
Backups are your responsibility
This one matters more in Hanko than in most apps, so please read it. Your entries exist only on your device. There is no cloud copy, and signing in does not create one. If you lose or reset your phone without having exported a backup, the entries are permanently gone, and we have no way to restore them — not because we refuse, but because we never held them.
Export a backup from Profile → Export backup and keep it somewhere safe.
No warranty
Hanko is provided “as is”. We work to make it correct and reliable, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability arising out of your use of Hanko is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost entries.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your statutory consumer rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will say so in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Hanko after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts and enforcement offices of Türkiye have jurisdiction. If you use Hanko as a consumer in another country, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law rules where you live.
